Sorry, that was bad English on my part - I meant my cabbage was sown in modules and next weekend (if weather improves - looks like it may not) I'd start sowing other things like carrot etc. direct. The cabbage will stay in the modules until it's proper seedlings, then planted out, probably in a almost a month's time.

I use these modules - http://kailyn.co.uk/wp-content/uploa...d-IMAG1049.jpg - not a recent picture, that's my Japanese onions from November. I've got some 20 cell module trays as well now for bigger things.

Ridiculous weather - it ended up snowing here today!

I'm sure you don't really mean that Colin, that's just asking for trouble

My seeds are all in modules in an unheated greenhouse, although I use the word "greenhouse" quite loosely as it's a lean to and some of the panes are yet to be fastened back in after a blow out!

Got a tip from a guy down at the allotments. Good rule of thumb, if the weeds seeds are starting to germinate, the soil is warm enough for the hardier veg. Makes sense to me :-) But then he advised me to sow in modules anyway if I can at this early time of year - gives seedlings a better chance against slugs, wind, hail, good for spacing and avoiding gaps in rows and cuts out need for thinning.

Not sure what my neighbours would think if I tried this seeing as my raised beds are in the front garden
