    I wouldn't go that far I don't think. I also grow a variety called Red Gauntlet which although are not so big are a really nice sweet berry. It's atrade off I suppose, quantity for quality or vice versa

      I think mine are Hapil. I discarded the old plants in Autumn last year, not realising that I wouldn't get a crop this June. I've had the free strawbs from the magazine which I put in last week and they're coming on really well, so I'll just look forward to next year's harvest. Can't understand your little ones Paul.

        Flo, I cull a row and take on a new row every year. The old row may be 5 years old by the time it gets the chop and of course there is a sharply diminishing return after the third year but I am never without berries. A hard lesson for you this time but you'll never forget it.
