Courgette - for those couple of months or so where everyday you seem to pick a new fruit. Though i didn't spend a great deal of effort or time on them, a single application of nettle feed when planting out and that was it. Just started a couple for this year. All the seeds germinated and the growth they put on everyday is incredible. I love courgettes

I love squash! I grew one butternut last year and had 2 fruit on it.... But I loved that plant and looked after it like a baby! I got the seed out of a butternut that I bought in the supermarket so I ws thrilled when it grew into such a big plant - it grew inches every day FAB. Ive got lots of different varieties to try this year! Cant wait - may start them tomorrow!

Chillies are my favourite crop, because they're so pretty and my non-gardening friends think they must be really difficult to grow and are consequently super-impressed

Last year it was cucumbers. Real satisfaction from the first fruit which tasted heavenly. I also grew beef toms outside which were fantastic.

Hoping to grow sweetcorn this year. I have 32 shoots in root trainers".......fingers crossed!

                  Loving my allotment!

cucumbers because they're delicious and you can eat them straight off the plant over a long period from summer to autumn.

I like pumpkins for how the vines wonder around, and the brightly coloured fruit sits in the corner like a monster.
(But I don't like how you can't harvest pumpkins till the autumn.)

And they're both easy to germinate and grow fast.

I'm with Two Sheds - gotta be chillies. The plants look so great when they're fruiting - and I get a years supply of chillies saved in the freezer which usually start to run out just as the new crop are starting to ripen. This year I've got 7 varieties growing, including 2 plants I overwintered from last year. They've already got little flower buds developing and I love seeing how they grow from day to day!

It's Garlic for me, followed closely by Courgettes and then First early spuds.
I always get a Courgette glut. I'm still eating Ratatouille from the freezer made from last years Courgettes, and garlic. I didn't have enough Toms and Onions to make it all from the plot.
