Cucumbers not fruiting!!

Hi all, this is my first year growing Cucumbers so I bought F1 Hybrid to ensure some success, However, three out of the four plants are not producing fruit, although they have flowered. The fourth has one cuc of approx 4 inches and three or four more flowers and plenty of growth and green leaves. The three that are not fruiting look as though their leaves are scorched up to about the top two to three leaves.....what am I doing wrong?? They are all greenhouse variety and are all in the same size pots.

How weird. I cant offer any advise as i have no idea why this would happen. I hope you get it sorted. Cucs are usually very easy to grow. Good luck

I don't think (!) cucumbers need pollinating - but I've got lots little baby cukes behind some flowers (around 20% of flowers have a cuke) - my first year as well...
How tall are the plants?

There are so many possible reasons for your problem that it's impossible to answer without more information. I've picked over 20 cucumbers so far from 3 plants but I must admit I didn't think I was going to get any at the start of the season due to the cold.

My Cucumber Story

This is my 1st time growing cucs. I started off with 4 healthy plants (mini f1),
I planted 2 in the ground in the garden, the other 2 in 12 inch pots in the lean to at the back of our house. The 2 in the garden were promptly eaten by.. who knows what. The 2 indoor plants got mildew on the leaves, one died the other survived, with 2 good leaves and plenty of feed. This plant is now approx 5feet tall and trying to take over the back of the house. It flowers very nicely, plenty of fruit start to grow then stop. We have had 2 fruits large enough to eat (very nice too) a third is on its way. My wife cut the plant back 1 week ago, all still seems ok. I have fed it every day with tomato feed.
Next year I will buy a greenhouse and try them in there.

NOOOOOO dont feed every day, that's far too much. It will weaken your plants by overdosing them then they are susceptible to everything, usually death.

Cucs need plenty of ventilation as thats another reason for the mildew. You need to pinch out a lot of the growing tips or it will become a triffid. Too many fruits can be hard for the plant to maintain and as they are not in the best health to start with the plant will suffer.

I have a blog that shows my cucs. I have then in the greenhouse and have removed some panels to let in more air.

Feed them once a week at the most. it should tell you this on the feed. Good luck

Don't get discouraged! On our local BBC station on sunday the gardening expert said that cucs were a b*gger to get right! I haven't really had any luck over the last 2 years, but this year I have 2 plants going great guns. They apparently go in spurts. A few good fruits then a few go yellow , then they produce again. Keep them evenly moist, don't over water , and you don't have to let them get to supermarket size. The more you cut, the more you get. I have them in a polytunnel this year, it seems to suit them rather than the greenhouse (cheap jobby from ebay, greenish, no need to shade). I'm still learning! Feed 1x weekly with tomato feed.

After reading other posts on here I think maybe too much...I water from the bottom probably every day as I was told that Cucs need plenty of water!!!

I sowed them in late March they are in 9in pots and I have given them some nitrogen to try and encourage leaf growth in order to produce fruits??? They are now approx 3ft tall, but only 1 cuc growing out of four plants!!!!

9in pots sounds quite small but OK? Are they outside or under cover?
My undercover are to the top of the greenhouse - but last year my only outdoor cuke managed about 2 ft and one very small cucumber (grin)
Do you have a lot of flowers? a lot of sideshoots / tendrils?

PS I don't know about feeding but I don't think leaf growth and fruit are the same? I'm using tomato feed for mine once a week...
You also mentioned the leaves are unhappy - mine are yellowing at the bottom but fine further up - are they dry? Any chance of a photo?

I quite often find that the more you dancing around you do,the less chance of success you have.I got a cuke plant(Telegraph) from my friend,plonked it into Tesco flower bucket filled with rotten cow dung (and nothing else,no compost or such things)and kept watering.Cuke was sitting in the bucket for a while doing nothing,then started to grow.I cut 1st cuke last week,2nd tomorrow as we are away,3rd one will be ready when we are back.Still waiting for gherkins.
It is a bit of hit and miss.I haven't got much luck with the other cucurbits-out of 16 seeds I have just one either pumpkin or squash(only one that germinated)

Hello!

I'm having a cucmber problem this year.
I have grown cu's for the last 3 years in the greenhouse, with remakable success.
However this year the plants died due to the cold, I have replanted and the plants are going like mad, but the fruit just goes grey and dies.
I'm growing them in the aquapot system, the tomatoes and peppers are doing nicely but the cu's are a problem.
