The ants tickle the aphids into producing 'honeydew' which they eat. They don't eat the ants, they protect them, and will even go collecting them to put on your plants.

You mentioned that you have been feeding them Phostrogen 2-3 times a week. Why so often?

Another way to help is to spray the flowers with water in the evening to help the beans to set.

Ive not fed them since only watered them had a picking of them yesterday beautiful I might try feeding at the weekend,
