Heritage tomato planting

It doesn't hurt to have a romantic nite out now and again! White tomatoes are not white but primrose - a very pale yellow. As with most yellow varieties they have to be eaten as soon as they turn ripe as the longer you leave them on the vine the more bland they get.

I didn't leave them on the vine. They dropped off under their own weight.

Can I ask what you mean by 'Good Staking'? Is it any different than the usual for toms?

As Flum seems to have gone back to the lottie (don't blame her, it is booful weather in this part of the world) I'll put my bit in (again). I usually just tie the plants themselves to your usual bamboo canes. But with my Whites the trusses themselves were so heavy they were breaking away from the vines. They need tying individually to the support. and just sticking a cane into the pot will not suppert the combined weight. I should have strung wires across the greenhouse (I doubt if string would have been strong enough) using the old bubble wrap conectors, and tied the wires to several supporting canes.

I grow my toms in growbags - and used an old plastic coated metal clothes horse round the plants to give extra support - it was a 3 panelled version of this:

Flum back from lottie! Yes it was super digging weather. As Sarraceniac says, one cane doesn't do the trick. I eventualy put several cames around some of the plants and tied the trusses to these extra supports.
