Hi Hazel (rubs hot ear!) - I eat Lancashire Lad as a mangetout but you need to get them young, They are lovely like this - and even raw on a salad, as they keep their colour.

As to beans for drying - I grow the dark red/white yin yangs, they are a climber and I can get a couple of jars full from 2 wigwams - maybe 12 plants per wigwan (2 per pole). Those cow beans look rather like my new crossed dwarf bean except it's black and white. I'm hoping to grow these on again this year and see if I can get a stable strain of my Piebald bean.

If I remember rightly the pea bean is a reddy/brown and white yin yang bean (just to throw a bit more confusion into the ring) and is a climber. Didn't grow them last year but will be giving them a go again this year.
