        • Himself has just come upstairs and said "Phew, what's that smell?" I've harvested the basil from the windowsill. I wonder if anyone's written a book called "What shall I do with all this Basil?"

          • Five rows of maincrop - signs of blight so panic-harvested slightly. First two sweetcorn cobs, some overblown courgettes, last of the tiny rubbish garlic, few more onions, last pot of blackcurrants for the year.

                          • Two beafsteak tomatoes and a cabbage. Pulled up some shallots but left them at the allotment to dry.(forgot them)

                            • Yesterday - 4 lbs of runner beans - made a batch of runner bean chutney, kept some for supper and some for my friend, an enormous cucumber and 5 tomatoes! Yay! And I weighed the spring planted onions that I brought home from the plot - 41 lbs.

                              • Cabbage, French beans (too big so podded them) basil, cucumber. Tomatoes - marmande, ola polka, Prince Borghese and Gardener's Delight. Courgettes and Charlotte spuds.
