  • Salad leaves going downhill

Well, I potted these salads on into bigger container and they are doing this. Any reason why?

They look to be already spent. How long have you been harvesting them?

A couple of months. They were given to me by my sister in law who seeded them. They were huge as she uses Q4. Perhaps a dusting with Q4 will revive them?

Looking at the growing stem, the distance between the leaves is quite considerable, indicating they bolted and yoy’ve already cropped the healthy leaves.
I too would say they have hit the end of their life span .

Is it too late to sow more?

It should be fine - I sow salad leaves pretty much all year round, as long as you use winter hardy varieties for autumn sowings, but they grow so fast that there should be time to grow summer lettuce now.

What about these, still plenty of leaf but still going downhill? Click image for larger version

I'd be inclined to eat what is edible and start some more. I find in general salad leaves have a fairly quick turnaround time, particularly if grown close together in pots.
