  • Sourcing Poultry Manure

Does anyone have any good suggestions for reasonably priced places to buy pelleted poultry manure from?
Everywhere near me only sells in in those tiny tubs for huge prices. I want to be able to buy it in sacks. For the past few years I got it from Trago Mills for £8 for a 15kg sack, but they seem to have stopped stocking it, so now I'm forced to look elsewhere. Everywhere seems to be over £1 per kilo at the very least...

I wonder if bird flu has something to do with it…maybe there’s a shortage?

When did you last buy a large 15kg sack ameno ?

Ah….there are quite a few varieties available online, so pellets are still available which is good to know.
Not as cheap as you paid though!

Slightly off topic, but maybe of use to those of us who prefer our non-vegan products to be certified in some way.

We use Greenvale/Rooster chicken manure pellets, as it was Soil Association certified. Rather than just branding the chicken manure product as 'organic' as many manufacturers do - afterall who would expect poo to be inorganic!!!

Anyway it seems Greenvale/Rooster are now called 'Fertiplus 4-3-3'. They are still showing on the Soil Association website as "meet the requirements of the Soil Association Approved Inputs Standards."

Spring last year. I bought 3 sacks. Had I known they would stop stocking them, I'd have bought at least half a dozen.

                That's exceedingly expensive.
Prices like that are exactly why I don't buy it by the tub anymore. Even £1 per kilo is frankly very costly, and those tubs are £1.50 per kilo.

When I looked online, the cheapest I could find was about £1/kg…which is the price you were suggesting.

If you find anywhere cheaper, do let us know!

I have the gut feeling though that you’re going to have to bite the bullet…..

That stuff is chicken manure compost, not pure chicken manure, hence the cheaper price.
Pelleted poultry manure is pure chicken manure, sold by weight. No water, no extras. That compost has water and other stuff added, and is sold by volume (and thus includes the air in the mix).
Based on how much you can actually feed with that amount, that stuff is a lot more expensive.
