We'll be giving Desiree another try and our usual Charlottes.

Interesting about the PFAs being in the list you posted CG - my uncle had a really poor crop of them last year so maybe he wasn't the only one.
Location: SE Wales about 1250ft up

          Wow^^^^ impressive!

          Are they all for you?
The most I’ve ever planted are 250 spuds but there were 4 of us eating them back then

It gives us a whole years supply.

The rest goes to friends as part of our food circle. It gets me 20 ton of horse muck a year, a years supply of local beef and mutton, sea fish mackerel cod etc.

Some also goes to a food bank and as raffle prizes for local events.

I also harvest venison and other game for the freezer/giving away.

We are self sufficient in our food supply this way.

That’s fantastic!…I love the whole idea of sharing produce like that.

I was half expecting you to say you are a small independent crisp making business!

What a great thing to do, dromia. Just spreading all that muck must be hard work too! Mind you, I'd love to have that. And the work spreading it would probably do me good as well.

Best wishes for a productive year.

                  Thank you.

The dry spell has broken yesterday with more rain the day

Even with the heat of the past five weeks there is some frost damage to the earlies, nothing they won't grow past.

They were coming through so quick with the heat that earthing up in the morning the tips were showing again in the evening.

The tatties are right next to the apiary this year and the bees were feral for a couple of days so couldn't get near the rows.

The nectar flow must have stopped but putting feed on soon sated their hunger calming them down and hoeing could recommence.

The Red Duke of Yorks and Kerr's pinks are now earthed up. I'll leave the Golden Wonders for a couple of days as they aren't as far on as the others, planted a couple of days earlier. They do need hoeing as I want to nip the fat hen seedlings that have come in with the horse muck.
