My first broad beans, I had them for my dinner with new potatoes and salmon, yummy.
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

Rhubarb again. Could have picked some cucs too but decided to leave until next week when hopefully the underside of the strawberries will be red like the topside.

Picked about 900g of strawberries, I say about, only 589g made it in to be weighed! A handful of raspberries, eaten immediately.

I would like a thread called "What I didn't harvest today"

I did my usual little walk around the garden yesterday evening, mainly snapping off marestail, when I thought, ooh I shall pick some gooseberries, they were looking good a couple of days ago...

I went to the gooseberry bushes and there was not a single berry left on either bush, not one!

I am guessing it was the blackbirds that had them.

Sometimes I wish my garden was a wildlife desert and not a dessert for wildlife!

                          That’s frustrating peanut.
I checked one of my gooseberry shrubs a week or so ago and it was stripped bare….leaves and all…darned sawfly
I’ll go and check the other one right now…

I had sawfly too this year, I squished a few but the birds seemed to pick off the rest and I was feeling pretty chuffed with the balance, but then... bad birds!
I hope you still have fruit!

My bushes are going back under netting next year.
