  • Sowed adoration dwarf French beans and more Tom thumb lettuces, new seeds.
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

    • Six of my blauhilde seeds had chitted yesterday, and six more today, it's taken just 2 days and 3 days. That's the difference in fresh seed I imagine. I'll pot them up today.

The runner bean seeds I potted up and put outside I've had to cover with a cloche as the hen blackbird thinks the soft moist soil must be hiding a pot full of worms, and keeps emptying them out.

      Endless wonder.

          • Chitting some French and runner beans, I'm still working through my old seed packs. If these don't spring to life I will ditch the old packs and sow new seeds. Also chitting a few more lark sweetcorn.
Sowed more beetroots and spring onions.
            Sowed garlic chives, new seeds!

            • Put some Dwarf French Bean 'Annabel' to chit as a back-up plan in case none of my 3rd sowing of Climbing FB 'Blue Lake' decide to get off their butts & grow.

Said I wouldn't plant DFBs this year to avoid all the bending at harvest time when they taste just the same as the CFBs anyway - but that was when I thought I'd have no trouble with CFBs (never have before). Best laid plans & all that

                            • Dwarf beans Pfälzer Juni - My last attempt 2 weeks ago resulted in fairly poor germination (admittedly the package had been open since last year), so yesterday I soaked the rest for half a day and sowed them wherever I could find a space
