          Sympathy like there, Bren.

Have you started sowing this year yet? If so, what have you sown? It's too hot for lettuce here in the summer, but I'll following this spring and later in the year.

Snoop I’ve got as far as bringing some compost indoors to warm it up a bit, will look at my seeds over the weekend.

I'm planning to look at my seeds too this weekend. I bought loads for sowing last year and then nothing happened. Most should still be viable, I'm guessing. Getting quite excited. Really looking forward to this year, though the weeding will be horrendous.

                  Hi Bren In Pots,

You've prompted me to sow some this weekend

I'll just want 2-3 to live on the windowsill for sandwich leaves We only grew at the plot last year & it's such a nuisance to not have any to grab when you don't want a whole head

Andraste I grow most of my lettuce in buckets they seem to have less slug damage that way. BTW There's a photo on the previous page.

                      Thanks Bren In Pots,

We've actually decided to grow all our lettuce (apart from maybe a few surplus) at home this year - we seem to give so many away (although it's nice to share, we grow too many at the plot). We've only got a small yard at home so no open ground to use but have acquired a really long trough style thingy which looks like it'll be just the ticket for outside

Yesterday the first of my lettuce seedling popped their heads up. I've put a foil covered piece of card around the tray hopefully they won't get to leggy.

Potted on my lettuce I’d sown on the 5th of February. 48 seedlings in all.

Mine standard lettuce doesn't want to germinate this year, the oriental is doing well though
