Went out to the greenhouse tonight long after dark. Got a load of slugs. They were every were. Been out during the day looking for them and only got a couple. Just wondering if this winter it would be worth putting salt same as used on the roads over the sand beds and watering it in to clean them. Do you think that would damage the heating cables.

It quite possibly would damage the heating cables, at least in so far as it might make the material more brittle.
I'm also not sure it would actually kill the slugs, as it would likely be too dilute.
I feel like you would be better off using some sort of tempting bait to gather all of the slugs and snails to one place, then kill them all. Keep doing this every few days for a few weeks and you should get rid of most of the ones in your greenhouse.

        Thank you for that Ameno.
Will try that. Have over the years given a lot of veg and bedding plants away and are now expected each spring so anything that keeps them good is well worth trying.
