What can I grow from seed now?

I have two one metre square beds that are filled with strawberries. I think one of the beds is a little tired so we didn't have a good crop this year, and to be honest, one bed is enough.

Will be pulling up the plants from the second bed this week. Any suggestions as to what I can grow from seed at the moment? I have two young boys that I like to get involved so looking for something fast growing.
I have a herb bed, tomatoes in the greenhouse, lettuce in pots and a small bed of sugar snap peas, so looking for something a little different.

I don't usually sow this late being far north, anything that will grow quickly will be ok, salad crops short types of carrot or beetroots maybe?

If you are reasonably far south, you can still sow most salad leaves, early carrots, beetroot, dwarf French beans, spring onions, Florence fennel, chicory, most leafy herbs (coriander, parsley, dill, might be too late for basil), radish (including winter radishes like mooli/daikon).

I put some carrot seeds in last week, some types will be ok this late, particularly some of the shorter ones.

Spinach, swiss chard, dwarf beans, most lettuces and chicory, Asian veg like Pak choi, chinese broccoli, even turnips and swede, winter cauli, winter cabbage, most beetroot, carrots. There's loads

Celebration runner beans can be sowed July. The teepee could double up as a den if made wide so there’s room to get inside,hide from the kids kids love playing in dens,grass can be used as the flooring & also stop weeds,cardboard box dens are good too if there’s no space for a teepee or a couple of bed sheets hung over chairs,I haven’t made a den for years it’s so much fun,I’ve gone off topic with my den fun

To be honest, i'd be tempted to give almost anything that grows dirctly from a seed a go (i.e not something that has to grow into a plant first, then produce fruit)

Most veg like that is, in my opinion better when harvested as a "baby" variety anyway!
