I am planning to give this a try next year. I wondered whether anyone here has tried it and what sort of results they got?

    Hi Dr Bill,

You need to search the Vine as I'm sure Jax (Jaxom to give him his proper nom de plume) has written about this as he is our resident sq footer expert (ex= has been& spurt = drip under pressure Sorry Jax we love you really)

I have found a very good post by Jaxom that describes exactly what square foot gardening is. You want the section New Shoots. Go to page 3 and the thread is Help! No Spatial Awareness last post dated 3/5/2006. Jaxoms reply is #5.

Thanks for that Lesley. It looks very interesting. I have little space which I can devote to edible crops and this seems a good way to maximise. Thanks also Jaxom if you are around. I have sent for the book and will difinitely give it a whirl and let you know how I get on via my veggieblog

Maybe we should have a sq foot forum LJ with all these devotees

You know, I don't know... I'm interested too. While waiting for an allotment I need to be more sensible with my space too

Rather than your own board at the moment, start a Square Foot Gardening thread. Then everything to do with this style of growing vegetables could be in the same thread and easily accessable.

It's all this heat. You probably need a good watering a nice top dressing and a light misting on your foliage.

If it's not the heat, it's the gin & tonic

                              Foliage adequately misted then?
Mine certainly is. If the slugs are getting Beer I feel it would be positively rude not to join in!
