Brassica Collars

I planted my broccoli and cabbage plants out about 10 days ago without collars. Is there any point using them, and if so, am I too late now?

I found that the slugs liked to hide under the collars so I'm not using them this year.

have used nematodes first to hopefully kill of the slugs and then will use home made collars (underlay from carpet fitting freind),kevin
