I'll take it- the show off award that is... sadly shortly after my posting the tromba decided they didn't like having their quilt removed. ( I am not growing up and you can't make me... so *ner* <shrivel and fall off.> )

That said there are a number coming on, and one is almost 8" even if it only as thick as my thumb. I may harvest it at the weekend when a few others get a bit bigger.

The weather here in London has been somewhat dubious so I am not surprised that a number of of you brave and hardy souls elsewhere are standing there shaking your heads at plants that have defied all your hard work.

Wish you all better luck and that some warm sunshine finally comes everyone's way. (water barrels are definitely full! )

Had a look at my trombo's this morning and I have one that must be fully 2 inches long but must say this heat that we have just now is helping

Last year I was growing the trombos in a bag that was made up with lots of garden compost, shredded branches, seaweed, course sand, manure and some soil, I am using the same bag this year after adding seaweed and manure but think I will need to start feeding them now, so what feed would you recommend for them?

I'm going to start feeding mine soon. With home made feed. Made up of seaweed, nettles, borage, and chicken manure.

Of the 6 seeds sown 2of ours finally made it to the planting out stage
So! No messing about here
Both are planted out directly into the compost!
They actually look much healthier than any of the other curcubits.

Mine are still sulking... Understandable given how cold is been until recently. It will be interesting to see if they perk up now!

woohups,i forgot about this,having read several posts,all sguash seems like it not want to grow so far,apart from the 1 indoors,even sons who usually do well,are slow to take off,however,i have 1 in the home poly that IS doing well,i think,is several feet long with lots of babies,only time will tell if they been pollinated,is the main issue,wonders if eye of newt has got em all

Wow, well done! My plants are no more than five inches tall, and no flowers yet lol The ones I planted out a month ago are still sulking like little toddlers. In fact, they're pouting worse than toddlers lol

Mine too! My cucumber keeled over - serves me right for growing one called La Diva cos it certainly acted like one!!! About the only two things growing well in the greenhouse are my 3 tomatoes (Moneymaker), 2 Water Melon 'Sugar Baby' and 9 sweetcorn which I sowed a bit late but are a size now to start going out to harden off.

Is anyone having success with their trombos this year, I have two in the garden which had started to move but seem to have come to a halt and don't look as if they are moving again even with the higher temperatures I am wondering if the high day temp. followed by low night temps recently has affected the way they grow. I think next year I will be growing them in the greenhouse as I have a cucumber (a plant I never have much success with growing outside) going well in it this year I have had five cucs from it already
