First year growing tomatoes in my new greenhouse. Sowing Sungold and have ordered grafted plants of Gardeners Delight, Shirley and Orange Paruche. I'm interested to see how grafted and non-grafted compare, is it worth it, especially with the shorter growing season in Scotland.
Mostly flowers, some fruit and veg, at the seaside in Edinburgh.

I'm going to put the brakes on this year after last year's glut. I've just counted the packs of tomato in my freezer (a few left from 2016 and all I froze in 2017 and 2018) and there are 158 meals worth, plus several lots of pizza topping, not to mention soup. This is why I had to buy an extra freezer last year.

            Therefore...
Shirley for house tomatoes and my friend's greenhouse
Brandy Boy for my friend's greenhouse
Balconi red for early fresh tomatoes
            Ferline for salads
            Sungold for salads

I also have packets of seed for
            Alicante
            Bajaja
            Balconi yellow
            Chocolate Cherry
            Crimson Crush
            Garden Pearl
            Legend
            Moneymaker
            Mountain Magic
            Oh Happy Day
            Precious
            Roma
            Sweet Aperitif
            Tumbling Tom Red

I think my chances of being able to stick to just 5 varieties are extremely slim!

My first year of attempting to grow anything was a success overall, but the biggest hit with the kids were the tomatos, especially the Sugar Gloss and the Sun Gold, so this year I will be scaling up:

              Alicante
              Shirley
              Sugar Gloss
              Sun Gold
              Outdoor Girl
              Big League
              Black Opal
              Tumbling Tigress
              Green Zebra
              Indigo Rose
              Red Zebra
Apricot Dream, possibly, depending on whether my single solitary seed germinates.

Maskotka. And maybe one cordon type, haven't decided which yet. All my cordons did terribly last year, not sure if it was lack of water or poor soil in my tunnel.

I'm trying not to grow so many this year, but already I'm having trouble whittling it down. Sigh.

                    Definitely:

                    Indoor --
                    Coeur de Surpriz
                    Lotus
                    Black Krim

                    Outdoor --
                    Grushovka
                    Speckled Roman

That leaves space for 4 more 'indoor' varieties and 2/3 more 'outdoor'.

Just been trying to sort my growing list for this year.
                      I have already sown.
                      Tiny Tim
                      Red Robin.
                      Micro Tom.
                      Balconi Red.
Trying to decide from the rest is so hard.
                      I have picked out
                      Moskvich.
                      Demidov.
                      Beliy Naliv
                      Black Krim.
                      Black Prince.
                      Black Mauri.
                      Black Cherry.
                      Ananas Noir.
                      Dubrava.
                      North Pole.
                      Necter Rose.
                      Homosa.
                      Livingstons Favourite,
Probably going to try to narrow this list down a bit.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Cant say I have tried grafted ones, but in my experience us north of watford need to help them along in march / april with grow light, etc and then they are full size to absorb our longer days

I can't help with the grafted tomato either. Never tried them.
I always grow from seed. Don't start till mid March then sow in the heated propagator. Then they go into the polytunnel. I've never had any issues with them producing in our short season.

I have a grow light I use to pep up overwintering cuttings, so I plan to put my seedling tomatoes under it.

If anyone has experience of grafted plants I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. I'll report back myself at the end of the season.
