A lot are saved seeds. My own and grapes I've swapped with and seed circle. A few are brought ones ( most from specialist, a couple impulse £shop buys )

I've just found my saved farmers market jalapeño seeds in the airing cupboard. So I better add those to my list. Now up to 43 varieties

I grew a selection of chillis this year, bought as plug plants from Devon Chilli farm. There are 3 different colours of habaneros, bhut Jolokia and a Carolina reaper. They did really well (made some excellent chilli jam from these) and are still alive so far but not much leaves on them now so I have clipped them back a bit. This was my first attempt at growing Chillis so am winging it I plan to sow some seeds to grow extras in case my plants all die.

                        Nice selection of chilli.
Where are you overwintering your plants? In the house?
Did you save the seeds ? If so did you isolate them ?

Before Christmas I was checking germination quality of saved Enjoya seed. I had put 6 seeds into a tray with damp kitchen towel. All the seed germinated. Thought since they had germinated, I'd just plant them up. Only when I lifted each seedling the sprout fell off. (I had not dried the seed properly - so was checking it)

So that was a week ago. Just back and thinking about new season. My only observation was that the towel was a bit wetter than I'd planned.

I had hopped to try an use this method for the hotter chillies this year, but would be gutted if this was to happen again.

                          Any advice?

Personally I don't like the sprouting method for chillies. I use it for beans and peas.
Chillies I just use very small pots in my prop. Cut up single module trays. One seed per pot to minimise handling. I suppose it depends on how much space you have.

Though maybe you just left them too long? As soon as you see a speck of white emerging from the case I pot up. You don't want it getting tangled in the kitchen towel.

4Shoes that's weird, I use the tissue method and I've never had that problem. Was everything properly clean? When I tried tissue in plastic bags it went a bit slimy so that might be a problem. I use takeaway tubs now.
