Maybe I didn't explain very well.......should I get one it would go down the middle of 2 x 4ft beds leaving 2ft on the outside of the tunnel each side. I was wondering if the tunnel would cast a shadow on the outside beds rendering them useless..

Noooooooooo.....let me try again..............the tunnel would be at the most northerly end of the bed running north-south........the sun obviously comes east-west so am I right in thinking that part of the day one side of the tunnel will cast a shade & the second part of the day it will cast on the opposite side.........now I'm confusing me.

Which direction do your beds run? I presume that the tunnel would run the same way? (According to the back of the envelope in front of me)

It should go through the plastic I'd have thought. I see where you're going. It's not necessarily direct sun that plants need so much though as warmth

So the sun rises in the Dwyrain and sets in the Gorllewin
That is, it rises on the right hand side, goes around the end of the bed and sets on the left. (unless you're looking at it upside down).
So your concern is about plants at the Gogledd Gorllewin end of the beds

The eastern side will get sun in the morning and the western side after lunch and neither side will be in complete shade. Positioning sound rather good to me.

As to the frame, there is an awful lot of plastic (sail) between the 19mm uprights I would be tempted to add further bracing myself.

At the northerly northerly end but it will not be near the shed or greenhouse. Well it will but not enough to be of any concern........Let me see if I can find a photo, I must have one somewhere knocking about..........

OK, I've drawn them on my envelope
It sounds almost perfect alignment to me - a covered pathway,, 2 squarefoot beds on both sides, and 2 on the outside or the tunnel. Go for it - and if the cover disintegrates in 2 years, either cover it in plastic or netting

Ok, this should give an idea of what I have in mind. Pick any of 2 of the 3 beds in the photo & the tunnel would span 2 ft each side ot the beds with the path down the middle.....

How long are those beds, BM? In other words, how many of your squares would be covered by the tunnel?
Would you put it at the north end or the south?
