  • Seed Circle General Swap 7 2011-2012

This is a general seed swap circle for open pollinated vegetables.

I'll suggest some rules, all of which are up for discussion and change by majority vote:
The circle is open for 16 grapes or until 30 September 2011, whichever is sooner.

Since there are separate chilli, pea and bean, and tomato (I assume this is starting and that it will be circle number 6) circles, only one contribution of each will be accepted for each of these four.

Participants will get their seeds to me by 11 December 2011, or tell the group before that date when they will send their seeds. People who don't meet this date will be excluded.

Please say at the beginning of the year which seeds you will be contributing, and if possible contribute something noone else is contributing yet. This may be changed if needed.

    2. winstonwobble

    3. Scarlet

    Carrot - Autumn King
Flat Leaf Parsley - Italian Giant

Any more takers for this circle? Or have the specialist circles taken over?

Maybe I made too many rules? I've noticed that some British people find my Dutch way of communicating abrupt. If you want to unsticky this and/or circle 2, that's fine.

I think it's just the influx of specialist circles rather than your rules. They seem perfectly fine!

I'll give it a few more days and then we'll see.

If you don't mind me joining yet another circle....I have heritage strawberry red popcorn (probably a bit of a novelty rather than a crop!) and Celeriac 'Monarch' still in the ground that I am leaving to flower and seed.

Very happy for you to join. I didn't get any celeriac last year, but would like to give it another go next year.

Ophiopogon, I'm not sure that's a good idea, because of the risk of introducing a disease or pest into another country. Also, plants that thrive in Valencia might struggle even in a greenhouse here. What do the others think?

I thought it would be ok (He's in my pumpkin circle, growing pumpkin Casper) as I checked to make sure we are allowed to send to Spain (postoffice site) and there's no restrictions.
I also mentioned that he would have increased postage costs.

Can i join in? I might need a little help along the way never having saved seed for anyone other than myself!
I have Parsnip - White Gem, Carrot - Autumn King and Flat Leaf Parsley - Italian Giant still in the ground from last year, hopefully they will set seed this year.

                              Scarlet, welcome.

Ophiogon, I'm attending a beekeeping course at the moment, and it's rather depressing to see the number of diseases bees get nowadays, none of which originated in the UK, all imported by beekeepers who thought this would be ok, so I'm sorry that I'm not going to let you participate.

Vicky, sorry for asking your opinion and then doing the opposite. I didn't like to say no, so I felt unsure at first, but now I've come to the conclusion this decision is my responsibility.
