Last series I kept thinking, oh I must try that, maybe this time I will get round to it. Wonder if I could use that dandruff oil he made tonight on my younger dog, she gets some by her back legs

You need to watch out for which herbs are safe for dogs, Elsie - not all of them are. A quick search indicates that sage is OK but no mention of the lavender or rosemary or the peppermint oil on the safe list.

However I have had dogs with dry skin problems and seen them helped greatly by adding a teaspoon of olive / vegetable or cod liver oil to their food. One case was a springer spaniel sized dog. Her coat turned lustrous and beautiful and all signs of flaky dry skin cleared up.

I think it would depend on the cause of the 'dandruff' - infection or dryness.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

A block of Sulphur in the water bowl can work wonders too - it did for my Springer!

          Thanks for that.

Just was searching what can/can't use on dogs. She is a springer. Had it on and off since she was a puppy, it's just dryness, she did have a rash after she was speyed that needed treatment.. Will try the veg/olive oil first.

What is it with these springers and their skins!

There seems to be quite a few springer owners on the vine.

Sadly my girl is long gone - half pedigree springer half pedigree black lab - beautiful dog with spaniel ears, black curly hair and a long tail that swept the coffee table clear with one swipe. And star of the class at obedience training.
Back to the plot - after spaying she had dry skin until the vet recommended the oil treatment.

Oh she sounds like she was a lovely dog. Mine is nearer the bottom of the classes, but is getting there - she is a bit slow on the up take compared to our older lab/german shepherd/whatever.

She's had her first olive oil teaspoon this morning

Back to GYOD, very jealous of that lovely kitchen he has, and how many plants there are in that little garden. Wonder if he really lives there. Must have a look at some more of his recipes and see anything else I should grow this year.

What is it with these springers and there spring? We took a young one in that was running round the area whilst we traced the owner. Lovely friendly dog. Within half an hour the house was like a bomb had hit it. He was into everything.
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

I loved the first series and this one looks like it's going to be just as good. Am also going to try the oil in both my dogs' food as my flatcoat/collie has quite bad dry skin just now as his coat is changing (happens inbetween each season!), and my springer/collie's coat is looking a bit dull (was clipped about a month ago, so new stuff growing in!). Jake the springer/collie is 9 1/2, but still in full use of his "spring"! Total nutter!!

Was out last night so didn't see it but will probably catch it on replay. Didn't like the start of the last series but it grew on me but can't get on with him on Countryfile, don't know why as he seems a nice guy.

By the way, is this another book out with this series or the old one? Have the old one and it is quite good.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

For anyone who loves James Wong and would like to buy the books the Book People have both.

If you buy the new one £6.99 you get £2 off the first one which is £4.99 if bought alone - bargain!

I bought the first book off the Book People Quark ages ago for £4.99, wish I waited now & got both together with the extra disccount!
I find him very watchable but he must get through bottles of vodka, everything seems to have a good slurp in it!
