How worse are they saveable? In the last photo,it looks like there’s two plants in there. I googled grow sage in a pot & it says pot size at least 12 inches diameter (it’s quick to do this with every plant!!) 12 inches per plant, the roots need that much space between each other,as they’re the same plant their roots communicate with each other & compete for nutrients & water. If it is two plants, can they be separated into a 12” pot each?

Re Sage - got a massive sage that grows on a brick wall. Tiny amount of rocky soil. Barely gets looked after, no pruning, no watering except the rain, and it's been there years.

Also got bay leaf trees that are massive and take no looking after whatsoever.

However, can't grow my favourite herb, coriander, ever. I keep trying. Keep failing. Any advice very welcome.

Morning jdlondon. Good to see you back. The Vine's search facility isn't that good so it isn't easy to find previous threads on growing coriander (lots on cooking with it, mind). Why not start another thread about growing it? I'm thinking of giving up trying to grow it conventionally - it goes to seed so quickly - and instead growing it as microgreens.

Morning, Snoop, very happy to be back, thank you x

And I will start a new post. It's unbelievably frustrating not being able to grow this herb.

Hope the new year is bringing better results on your Sage issue.... I've had mixed results with Sage (growing in pots) but I noticed last Autumn one that looked really good so as a 'reward' as Winter approached I put it in the conservatory. Within 2 days my prize Sage was at death's door - curling leaves, droopy etc - and I was told they hate stable static air - "put it outside again, they like a bit of rough, hate being molly-coddled!" So I did that and, honestly, within 2 hours it had recovered. So now I just leave it alone in a single large pot, I don't feed it, I don't water it, I don't prune it, I do nothing except occasionally look at it when passing! And now, post Winter, frosts, gales etc it's looking a bit sorry for itself - serves itself right! - but there are signs of new growth and I will just leave it alone. So Sage is one that seems to thrive on neglect! Which I suspect is quite difficult for you as a very caring gardener. But next time you get a seedling stick in a pot of fairly poor gritty soil, sunny location and tell it that it's on its own, make or break. Do nowt! See if that works! .

                .
