good tip, I must remember to do that. They're all planted now (they stay in the ground all year), but I'll still stake them

dahlia supports? On the cheap please

If you can get hold of some old wheels from a kids bike, remove most of the spokes leaving an X the dahlia will grow through the wheel which can be moved up as the plant grows to give support. This can be used when you are growing a small number of plants, bean netting can also be used if growing several in a row staking as required.Originally posted by lizzyf View Poststakes of 2 X 1 timber at either side (length varied to suit the size of each dahlia).
