      If you can get hold of some old wheels from a kids bike, remove most of the spokes leaving an X the dahlia will grow through the wheel which can be moved up as the plant grows to give support. This can be used when you are growing a small number of plants, bean netting can also be used if growing several in a row staking as required.
      it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
