Shrub ID please

When clearing out a shady bed in the garden I found a straggly leggy shrub. So I potted it up and cut it back and it's done pretty well. Trouble is I don't know what it is! I noticed today when watering it has now produced a long flower not unlike a delphinium.

Any thoughts please?

Such a pretty flower, I had to google lens it! According the Lens it is most likely Vitex agnus-castus, commonly known as the chaste tree or chasteberry.

Yes I've googled it now and I agree with you Peanut, definitely a chasteberry. Needs plenty of full sun to flower apparently, hence it has liked spending the summer on my south facing patio and despite only being 2 feet tall has chucked out one lovely flower.

I have the perfect spot for it in the garden, but got to clear out a patch of itinerant goldenrod first and improve the soil a bit. When it grows bigger it will fill the spot nicely, especially when I prune back the nearby shrubs in spring.
