Can anyone tell me what this is called? Obviously in the mint family, but what?

That's interesting, MH. We have something very similar on our land and I'd always presumed it was a kind of sage rather than what I think of as a mint, but yes, Lamiaciae.

Have a look at Turkish or Jerusalem sage and see what you think. Though your flowers look to be paler. Turkish sage has bigger leaves and looks a bit more likely.

That's it, Nicos, Turkish sage! Great find!

Lamiaciae was the word I was wanting but couldn't remember, but I knew mint was in that family. It's amazing how many of the culinary herbs come from that family yet all taste and smell so different.

Touched as I am that you think that was my incredible find MH……. Sorry, I can’t take the credit for that!

        Nice find there Snoop!

Looks like something I could grow in my garden. I particularly love the yellow flowered one …..I’ve been looking for something like that.

^It would be very useful as an ornamental, Nicos. Will cope with drought, flooding and being buried in snow if our experience is anything to go by. We also have wild and meadow clary here. Might make a nice colour contrast.
