I've got my first Sunflower in flower (sorry, no pix). It's a self-seeder, from plants I put in in 2005.
I've also got half a dozen grown this year from birdseed ... they're now 4 foot tall and looking strong.

mine are all red and black sunflowers, and they don't grow as tall as the yellow ones oh yeah, and i didn't get them from bird seed either lol, but they are the best growing things in the garden, currently about 3ft.
