I am wondering where I am going to erect the scaffold to hold mine up and stop it flopping.
Feed the soil, not the plants.
    (helps if you have cluckies)

I hear replica Eiffel Towers are available for a very reasonable price. :-)

I didn't really intend growing Sunflowers this year but the allotment has other ideas. I have just weeded loads from my onion patch and they are coming up all over the allotment. I'll leave a few in, transplant some, give lots away and the rest will be composted.

Mine are now about 12" high and getting too big for the pot - time for them to get planted out I reckon.

Been planting out my birdseed sunflowers as promised - decided to try pulling a fast one by putting some of them in relatively shady place in the hopes that the plants will spurt up to try to find some light - if this succeeds (which seems unlikely) it remains to be seen what the judges will think of this tactic :-)

Could we have a most pathetic sunflower category. I’m definitely in with a shout.

Absolutely can Annie, why not. We may have to specify variety to avoid people growing dwarf sunflowers and reckoning it never grew.

Mine are dwarf and also slightly chewed by slugs.

Mine are doing nicely at the moment. I've got a couple more to plant.

ID:	2383815Don’t be getting too intimidated by my impressive sunflowers now. They seem to have to survived being chewed by the slugs.

My two main contenders. I have others, but these two are in the best positions, I think.

At the end of the bean tunnel.

                              Me Too!

Got a few Titan growing for the comp. so I'm in. I also have some Solar because I like them, 1 larger flower then continue to have 3 or more smaller flowers all season once they start. As they are taller than me that is tall enough.
I would have started some of the Russian Giant, but all the best spots are taken with Sunflowers in with the beans, squash, brassicas, root veg, salad leaves, herb bed, Jerusalem arts........ There are even some in the flower bed, but these self seeded from the bird seed

The thing I grow best are very large slugs!
