Sorry to say but you get what you pay for. However give them a good feed and don’t let them go short of water and they will be better next year.Gardening requires a lot of water - most of it in the form of perspiration. Lou Erickson, critic and poet

Even if they are planted late they should still flower in their first year, just may not establish so well as they won't have made much root growth before flowering. I wonder if last year's poor weather (cold wet spring followed by months of drought) are the cause?

Thanks for the feedback, they did go in late and I'm thinking of moving them out of the bed once they have died down and relocating them along the edge of a grassed path.

Last three rows are tulips as I ran out of daff bulbs to fill the bed there are 105 holes in that 8ft x 4ft planting membrane for the bedOriginally posted by veggiechicken View PostThey're normally planted in autumn. They probably need more time - or they may be planted too shallowly.
Some of them look like tulips?

I have to ask..........why have you planted them like that? I've never seen daffodils lined up like troops on parade.Originally posted by Cadalot View PostLast three rows are tulips as I ran out of daff bulbs to fill the bed there are 105 holes in that 8ft x 4ft planting membrane for the bed

Because I have not got the area they were intended for ready and if I plant them like this I know where they are. so I can dig them up and transplant them during the year. I was supposed to be cutting them to take home to the wife, and I don't like weeding. Planting Membrane is what I use for Onions and Beetroots.Originally posted by veggiechicken View PostI have to ask..........why have you planted them like that? We've got loads of blind ones this year that flowered last year. I even gave them a feed last year too! They're on a north facing bank so i'm wondering if lack of sunlight might the issue?

I'd also suggest you feed them well and let them fully die back before you lift them. That probably means June. That way the bulbs will be at their best ready for relocating."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
