chooks anf fruit bushes

Hello, I'm hoping to get some chooks soon, 3 or 4 maybe. I was wondering what they would be like with fruit bushes, I have cranberry, goji berry, blueberry and gooseberry. Would the chooks be ok around them? Would they scoff them or pull them up? I was thinking of making the run enclosure bigger and the fruit bushes would be in it

Well mine love gooseberries, blueberries and red and white currants. Didn't get any blueberries last year as they got them before I realised they were ready ! Frankly they're welcome to the red and white currants as there are so many I never use them. I think the cranberries would be a bit sour and I've no idea abour goji berries. All chooks are different and not all mine bother with the fruit but they are foraging a large allotment so I guess there are more interesting things to eat. I would think if you are planning to have the fruit bushes in the run they will be stripped bare in a fairly short time!

mine love all fruit and strip the couple I have at home & last year managed to strip the lower branches of the plum tree so I wouldnt risk it unless you just want to grow them for your girls of course

I second Hans Mum's statement. I got no raspberries at all last year as the stripped the plants clean (including all the leaves!)

Mine love all fruits. I had a blackcurrant in their play area. They ate every one last year. Good job I've now got 4 bushes on the new allotment!
