Oh sweetie so sorry they didn't hatch.

I wasn't brave enough to crack number 4 egg, I reckoned with the trouble with number 3 I didn't want to know why it didn't hatch. Grandad said it could of had a deformity of the beak and that I didn't want to see.

I'm now paranoid about my duck eggs and they have another 2 weeks.

yeah, i kinda want to see if what i did see when i candled them (certain it's babies) was actually babies and not a big blob of black goo

Lynda, I am so, so sorry to hear about your eggs . How horrid for you. ((((hugs)))). I'll keep my fingers crossed that something may yet happen, but I suspect that it is not to be. Chin up, and keep at those chocolates to maintain morale...

i think today i have found out what the problem is

inside the incubator i have a digital hygrometer/thermometer, which doesn't come as standard, i got it with the incubator, as i bought it second hand and the seller included it, anyway, it didn't match up with the mercury thermometer that sticks through the lid, so i figured it must not be calibrated properly, and only used it as an idea for humidity ..... then this morning i had a thought, after reading about overdue eggs .......and people mentioning temperature, maybe it was right, anyway, i put the mercury thermometer in with the eggs at their level, and realised i have been trying to hatch them at 34 degrees ....... not good, so i have turned the temperature up, and hopefully if any are still alive (doubtful) something may happen, so keeping fingers very tightly crossed that i haven't killed all of them.

My fingers are firmly crossed!!!....was Friday the 1st day of possible hatching?...has someone said it's possible for them to be a full week late??So hope you have success Me Dear...but if not then please don't think it's because you killedthem!!

yep friday was day 21 ..... i just wish i'd thought sooner, but if theres anything good to come out of it, at least i will be aware of that next time ....... and i don't feel so bad knowing it was the incubator and not me, if i hadn't had the hygrometer, i'd never have known ..... i am at present writing an email to the manufacturers pointing this out, i can't understand how this could happen, cos most people wouldn't think of it at all. so i'm going to drill a hole in the side and put the bulb at egg level next time.

Here's hoping that the increase in temp will create some movement - but who knows!! Still, it's a learning curve! You'll know for next time, if nothing happens this time!

it's definitely the problem i been reading lots, it just never occurred to me that there might be a really bad design fault with the incubator, if any are still alive, theres a glimmer of hope now ...... anyway if they aren't at least next time i hopefully will get some, so i'll at least give it another go

i was on face party years ago, till they sold it to someone else, and i got chucked off for being ....... 'too old' ..... just can't be bothered now.
