tis very odd they are putting mercury in them though, they spent years getting rid of mercury in bp meters and thermometers to aviod environmental pollution, then go and put it in light bulbs that are gonna smash all over the place when they go into landfill

lol that's just it, they're NOT supposed to go to the landfill. They supposed to be disposed of properly!

The chook house just keeps getting better Lynda! I see you are going all out (as usual) for the Chooks so that they'll be safe! I'm still impressed at what you've accomplished no matter how many times I look at it! The only ting I cannot figure out is how you never killed yourself building it

i have died at least 6 times ..... tis ok though, i am undead or i'm a cat or summat .... can't wait till i can spend a day staring out the window, and not having to sit in the cold watching them, cos i'm worried about the fox and i don't want to leave them inside all day........ cleo is good though, whenever they are out and wander from 'their' area ..... she herds them back into the garden, then headbutts them to reassure them ...... not too sure if that will be enough to keep the fox away though lol

Just where is properly? I've been carrying old batteries around for weeks looking for somewhere to dispose of them properly. In Spain all the places that sell batteries have bins to put the old ones in.

Place we go in Spain there is a massive recycling site, with sections for EVERYTHING. Car batteries have a shed, and one corner of it has bins for 'ordinary' batteries, and rechargables that don't recharge any more. Most councils do not yet have recycling facilities for low energy bulbs. Why they couldn't sort THAT out before withdrawing the other type from sale (yes, they are stopping selling them quite soon, EU orders)......

well the run is finished apart from a couple of tweeks, when i see how things work or don't .... just gotta make a pop hole cover, and put a plank on, and paint it

let them out in it about half five, i can tell they were out longer than normal, cos it must have been dark, cos only 3 of them made it on to the perch lol but they do seem to like the bonfire ashes and their sand pit .... a lot

they were so funny about going out, all pushing each other round the hole, deciding what it was and who was going first ....... but judging by their reaction ..... they approve

yeah when i've sorted the mess out that the garden has turned into .... and it stops looking like a bombe site it will be well cool lol ..... just got a ton of soil to move to the front garden now lol

Just been having another look at your pics. That sand pit is great, was that a skip find? And your path, does that go the nest box, or will you collect eggs from the inside? Will you put some shelter over part of it so they can play out when it's wet?

I hope you're going to rest a bit before you even contemplate shifting all that soil

the sand pit was a freecycle find ..... and the path bit is just so they have a bit that's not muddy was gonna make it a bit bigger but i ran out of flags lol, but next door has a wall of them i can nick some off cos he's demolishing it

unfortunately the nest box isn''t accessible from outside, so the slight flaw in my design means i have to go in the house to get the eggs lol,

am still thinking of things to add to the run to make it more fun ..... might need a bigger digger though

tis still in progress, but at least they can get out while i'm not there now did want the run a bit bigger, but it's fine for 6 of them, but coco and buttercup will be going soon

am gonna put some sort of tarpaulin over, may use the part of the gazebo, being as i won't have any poles for it when the polytunnel goes up, cos i'll need the poles to replace the broken ones.

rob and his mate are gonna move the soil ....... i'm gonna have a well earned rest

actually now i've thought about it theres still loads to do lol
