    Any suggestions on the best wood preserver to use on my new chick house.

    Hi Gloria,
    I use a water-based Cuprinol, it says on the tin that it's safe to use around pets and animals. You might need to reapply it each spring though.
    PS you might want to change your user name, to stop spammers getting hold of your email address!

      If the chickens aren't already in it, and you've got time to leave it for a few weeks before they do take up residence I'd say creosote.

        I use something called cuprinol shades, which is just coloured cupronol. (Wood based.)
        I got it in dark green? and the duck hut looks great. Seems to do the trick.
