  • Eggs too hot?

I'm looking after three chooks for a neighbour, one is broody, she wouldn't shift off her place - anyway, when I managed to get her off to check she was sitting on four eggs, these eggs were very very warm.

    Question:
Is is ok to eat them or best not?

Personally I wouldn't. Some eggs can occasionally have visible bacteria masses within ( look like little grey blobs; not to be confused with blood spots), and being kept at incubation temperature might make these multiply to an extent that could cause illness.

If she has only been sitting on them today then I would say they are ok to eat. If it's been a few days then I would have to say prob not as they are kept at near enough her body temp which is a lot hotter than just kept in an egg box!
