Apologies for not posting much lately.
I'm please to say that we've finally moved to the new house but have a lot to sort before getting into the garden.
Hopefully in a week or two I'll be asking more daft questions about what to plant where and when!!

The cropped lavender is hanging on, the roses have gone to the Inlaws for some looking after before we get the chance to start planting.
I bought my ceramic planters home tonight so hopefully if the weather is kind I may get to have a play this weekend, even if for a short while

The bird life here is fantastic. I have black birds that are very friendly, they don't seem fazed by humans, sparrows in abundance, a regular visit from a wood pecker to mention a few ��

Congrats on your new home - the local wildlife sounds fantastic You are lucky to get woodpeckers. We occasionally see them in the trees in the park across the road but not very often.

The birds have been well looked after. We were left with a box of goodies for them!
I managed to do some planting today. I was given 2 lavender bushes by colleagues and I also put my apple tree into a large tub.
Also sowed some lettuce, peas, swede and carrots.

I'm spending a lot of my time setting up my workshop as I'm an avid tinkerer, yesterday I added a potting bench

Down the shaded side of the workshop there's a small patch of ground
I cleared it then gave it a quick rotivate and ended with this



Would grass grow there ? It's quite a shady spot and I can't think of anything else to stick there...

I would make it into a wildlife patch, small pond, wildflower seeds, pile of sticks and twigs, could encourage some beneficial visitors into your garden

What about raspberries? They don't mind a bit of shade - or blackberries.

The wild garden will be the other side as theres a little more light and space
When clearing the area, there was a pile of left over timber which seemed to appeal to the local frog community. I have relocated it the the hedge side so will hopefully keep them happy!
I did spot one frog yesterday so I know there are still around.
