Here's some "logic" for you:-

Dates grow in Morocco

I've been to Morocco and it was bloomin cold in January with snow on the mountains

Ergo, dates don't mind a spell in the freezer

Even if you managed to grow a date palm from seed how would you harvest the fruit? The tree is over six metres when it produces fruit and harvesting used to be done by people climbing up ladders, or standing in a box on the prongs of a forklift. Nowadays electric 'lazy susan' type lifts are used. Also I know from experience my neighbour planted a palm tree in his garden. The tree grew to over five metres high and the roots were under the neighbours' houses. Incidently do you know how the height of a palm tree is measured? In hands, of course.

Probably using a couple of dodgy work table, some scrap bits of wood and an old branch because the wood wasn't long enough

I've just checked my packet of dates and there's no mention of them being frozen.

Doesn't help as they were pitted dates.

There was no plastic nobbly stick with mine. Frozen or not, I planted them all in a 4 ich pot at the allotment this evening. Silly me forgot to bring them home to give them a bit of warmth though!

I'm eating sausages just now, i wonder, if i plant ....................... They weren't frozen sausages!
