    • Put supports in for peas and broad beans today and took off their cloches. Two more gutters of pea seedlings gone in with cloches over. Potash around the raspberry canes and redcurrants. Some weeding in between rows.
Painted half of the outside of my lovely greenhouse which is done in "clay" colour - looks beautiful! As I type OH is sanding the other half, lit by the quarter moon. I want the warm weather tomorrow so I can get it finished.

Mowed lawn, put clippings round raspberry sticks.

            Had a big bonfire
            Weeded the beds
Topped up one bed with 8 bags of topsoil and dag it over
Planted early carrots, PSB, beetroot, chard and spinach.
Also planted rhubarb, 2x blackberrys, 1x goosberry, 3x raspberry canes.

            • Took the tattered remains of enviromesh off last years large carrot bed. It has two foot sides around it and HAD enviromesh over the top until the snow collapsed the framework and split the mesh.
Anyway rebuilt and repaired some of the framework and started digging over this 18foot X 5 foot bed. Dug out loads of carrots as I went and put the decent ones to one side, the rest being for the chooks who watched longingly!
I used my new long handled heart shaped spade and can honestly say I am very impressed with it!
Just for a change I think I'll plant the bed up with sweetcorn and French beans which will benefit from the screened sides keeping the wind off them.

Gave chooks a good ration of food as I won't be able to get to the allotment tomorrow, collected the eggs which were all clean for a change as the dry weather is upon us.
Watered greenhouse pots and trays and took cold frame lid off the japanese onions which have thrived with the little bit extra heat!
Big day on Sunday as I have to shift chooks around and devise a way to bring a couple of chicks I've hatched myself to the allotment.

                • Thanks Binley you have just reminded me I need to pot on the celeriac tomorrow.
Painted the other half of my greenhouse today whilst listening to the radio all day and burning my shoulders. Painted a coldframe tonight until I could see it no more. Chooks came out into the garden with me and stripped my wild garlic - newly planted - grrrr!

                  • Yesterday evening - home from work earlier than expected so down to the plot for some therapy. Forked over the bed where the cold frame lives, planted some mini iceberg lettuce, beetroot and spring onions. Cleaned the weeds from the strawberry bed, had to water the peas and broad beans that are under a sort of poly-tunnel ... so dry! Planted some dill and cornflowers. Took photos, communed with nature, relaxed!

                            • Yesterday afternoon - glorious day again! Planted my maincrop potatoes, planted out another row of peas - the first ones are about an inch high, weeded, erected cloches for the cauliflowers, erected bean sticks and just pottered about generally pulling up docks and dandelions. The plot is looking really tidy - I'm going to have to transfer my attention to the garden at home today. Plenty to do there!

                              • Yesterday had a great time at the lottie. Dug over bed no 3 for the second time the plot don't look like a series of mines have gone off now. Also built a bean row :-) ready for my runner beans which are looking great at home. DH came up in the afternoon and started to make my paths out of blocks YAY! Also my arlic is about an inch high already there was no gsign of it on wednesday. Today I might tackle the little bit of extra lane I gaines last weekend today as it is making the plot look untidy. Took some pics but they too big to up load so need to work on them before I can upoad them.
