Wish I could say the same - I woke up this morning to see snow falling yet again!! One day I might be able to get to the lottie and do something other than just potter about in the shed.

Yesterday because the sun was shining, I made a little cold frame (just stacked bricks and glass shelves from an old fridge) on the patio at home. The leek seeds were growing well so I put them out in the cold frame and now it is covered with snow.

      • Saw 4 inches of snow on my garden and thought Bu... Oh Dear me.
And made a cup of tea. So much for my plans for my day off.
Time to get into the kitchen and concoct something.

Yup - Spring finally seems to have sprung. Yesterday it was snowing when I got up, but soon stopped and turned into a lovely, sunny afternoon, and today has been Spring-like from the start. Will be out digging, fertilising, liming and sowing parsnips and radishes later today and tomorrow.

Is Spring white? We've not had much since the January blitz but I was delighted to wake up at 6 a.m. to start some serious digging to find that we are covered in about 4 inches of the stuff. Looks like round here is a time for serious tea-drinking.
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

              This is just showing off
Tea time last night the snow seemed to have melted.
Bed time it was back, and it's still here.
Luckily I brought in a large pot of compost to warm yesterday, so should be able to get started with some sowing today.

                • Potted up my early toms and chillies into 3" pots. If the ground thaws out enough I'll plant out my red shallots.

Wonder why red tape doesn't like beautifying of cycle lanes, kerb sides etc. ? Presumably if the person who planted them were to attack the lane with a machete, that would be alright. A neighbour of ours, down the road, wanted to plant up a mound of nettles, dandelions and dock for 'Britain in Bloom'. Permission refused; it is a 'natural area'. We all thought we were suburban/semi-rural and the planted up horse trough about 20 yards (18.288 metres) away from it is fantastic all year round, thanks to the same lady.

                      • Called at Aldi on the way to allotment and bought a Braeburn apple tree to go with my Cox's I had already bought at Inshops for a quid more. Also bought red shallots and five garlic at £1.99 each.
Once I got to the allotment I planted the shallots and garlic in seed trays as it was frosty and a light dusting of snow outdoors.
Made a start on trying to site the old hut I intend using as a chicken coop. Hit a problem straight away as the floor was rotten. Took the measurements and will make a new floor from old pallets I have lying around. Once the sun went down it got really chilly so decided to call it a day.

                        • Hurrah & Huzzah, I actually feel like I have acheived something to do with the growing of my own today.
Glued the GH back together (polycarbonate panel and door back on (amazed at the difference in temperature after only a few minutes).
Removed all last years plants and pots and left it clear to dry out properly. Will clean it tomorrow
Potted up some sweet potato slips that have been rooting in a glass of water in the kitchen.
Went to the local poundstretcher and bought two window sill propogators for £2:99 each.
Potted on Rosemary and Oregano bought the other week from Lidl.

                          • Today I have been on tea and coffee duty up at the lottie all morning.
Our plot still under snow so came home and
                            Pricked out chillies and peppers
Potted on my rooted rosemary and sage cutting.
Stood in the greenhouse and admired my onion seedlings .

                            • Planted some raspberries in some large containers, and some asparagus in some deep containers.
OH turned 3 and emptied 1 compost bin for me.
Dug the last of the JAs
Chased my 5 yr old around the lawn, was good we could all be outside!

                              • Noticed yesterday that the local tesco had fruit trees for sale at about £7 each (seemed a pretty good price to me). Would have bought a few but I think I only really have room for a couple of cordons on my plot.

                                Sprayed earlies again.

Bought a slimline waterbutt and stand from B&Q. Wanted the kit from Wickes as it was about £6 cheaper but none in stock (bugger......)

Dropped off shed guttering and water butt to lottie. Someone had managed to break the combination lock on the gate (only took someone a week to break it.......).
