What a nice plot, and good bracing to the runner bean structure on each side in opposite directions.

Janice that is a credit to a true dedicated worker and you should feel justifiably proud. You have educated yourself and acted accordingly.

Now the interesting bit kicks it, nature can be a cruel mistress(or indeed master) and pest control or conditions will foil even the most dedicated gardener, but please just don't get despondent and waste your talents.

I wish my plot looked like that.

What a marvellous job you've done
What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?

Thank you all so, so much, yes I'm absolutely thrilled with it and have managed to do things that I never thought I could, like make raised beds in my own (make friends with a wood yard who will cut to exact sizes) and shift several tonnes of woodchip using a wheel barrow with massive holes in it!

I have this evening had a phone call from our allotment supervisor who has said that our local Britain in Bloom judges came round to judge on Thursday for our town's allotment competition. I did know about this, but many people on our site have been on there 10 years plus, so I just carried on with my plans as intended. Plot 34b has only gone and got second place in the half plot section!! Apparently the judges were extremely impressed and only marked us down on the maturity of my plants which is a fair comment. I only got a four shelf blow away in May and everything else only went in mid May after last frost.

Thrilled to pieces, apparently I get a 'tifficat'

                      Very much deserved.

That's fantastic Janice! I'm not surprised you have been recognised for all your efforts, yours has to be the prettiest plot I have ever seen. In fact, you have inspired me to prettify our veg plot (in our garden) with bunting and cute signs.

                        Much to my husband's disgust

                        First prize next year eh?!
