It's raining ...

...So which of you hardened plotters face the rain? and what do you do.

Today im facing the rain because I havent been for a few days, I wanted to do some painting, but I will be mainly in the green house poss making some bug homes out of broken bamboo, I will make the most of it, I dont get many child freedays and this is one and rains is not gonna put me off

It's raining here too. I intend to go up in a bit to take plants up for fund raising at our Grand Opening tomorrow. How many will come remains to be seen.
The ground, being clay, is impossible to work, but I will try to pull some weeds from the edges of the beds to tidy things up. Our site is very exposed too, so adding in the wind factor makes working in the rain particularly unpleasant.

yay! I see the sun and it has lasted longer that 6-8am. Yesterday wasn't too bad but flippin' freezin' in the morning.

The forecast here is lot's more rain though, so I'm off down the plot today.

I potter between the greenhouse and the shed, and try and do outside things between the showers if possible. If it's just solid rain, then I do my sowing and potting on in the porch at home - easier to get a brew and a snack that way Or, I go and mosey round a garden centre - they're usually not that busy when it's raining.

I still have decorating to do (I know, I know, should have done it during the winter) so as I've taken Tues off I might get some painting done. ................ Don't bet on it though; lots of potting on to do.

I have a wooden runner bean frame ive been wanting to paint before i string it, It had wire before, it was a good idea i assume for the previous plotter but they were rusty so im happy just to replace string each year instead of wire took me 2 hrs to remove the darn stuff

I have heavy clay soil so im not planning on doing any digging today

It's sunny with some cotton wool clouds at the moment. Will go to lottie later to give it time to dry out a bit then will sew some more spring onions...or should I wait until after the torrential rain that is forecast for most of tomorrow?

I'm sure I live in a parallel universe. It's dry here, again. My local river doesn't get much lower than it is now even in the middle of summer, then I turn on the TV and a glum looking guy says "More torrential rain is due across the country today" and I think to myself "More! There hasn't been any yet". As for the frosts, well I'm not complaining about this one but we haven't had any here in over two months, or if we have - I haven't seen it and it hasn't upset any of my plants, potatoes, tomatoes or otherwise.

Anyway, back to the original question....I work outdoors on other peoples' gardens so rain-dodging is impossible for me (when it can be bothered to rain) so it doesn't stop me going out to tend to my own garden.

I did this today! Everyone else on the allotment vacated when the rain started, I just stood on my paths and carried on. Hoeing was a bit of a disaster (more like using a onion hoe as a mattock) but weeding perennials was ok - easier than when the clay bakes solid. I stopped in the end as I've got the tail end of a cold and the rain on my back was making me feel a bit rubbish. Had I not been ill I would have persevered. I don't mind getting wet - soon dry off again.

No bad weather only the wrong clothes .....yup I can work my beds from the paths too .
Today I cleared a space on the kitchen table, covered it with newspaper and sowed seeds in comfort . Now why have I never thought of doing that before ....

I still go down the plot in these down pours but only get as far as the kettle in the shed
