Hobbit Allotment!

Worried about flooding and if we have a very damp summer again. Plus I don't like digging trenches. Mama h doesn't agree with bulb planting technique as she was never taught that by my nana when he did planted spuds!

Potatoes plant in the ground, about six inches deep HH. I've planted 2 rows over the past two days. Can use a bulb planter if that's easier. Don't make ridges till the shoots show through.

Harvested some of Aunty VVG's Sunderland kale, it's rather good! Steaming it later. Sank broadies as the over wintering ones failed. As well as some experimental seeds in the four tier blowaway. Debating how soon potatoes can be sunk and how deep. Trying open ground again this year. Any suggestions? Valley's, ridges? Have previously just bulb planted.

mama h and i have been digging and leaf molding today. Aubs and chillies sat basking in the sun, as a tomatos. Nothing planted out yet. Stack of spuds to be sunk at some point too.

Very pampered chillies at the moment. If it suddenly goes cold they will be ex-chillies. Only on super hot has come into existence so far-Serrano. The others are still in the magic box.
Nigel, hot patio sizzle, early jalapeo, pretty purple have all come through so far with just being on the sill.
Tomatoes have also been sown . under a fleece. We Marmande, yellow stuffer, ailsa Craig, black cherry, money maker and gardeners delight.

Would like to grow chillies and bells next year in the poly. I can wait till they are say 8-10 inches high before I sink them into the beds of the poly. Just wondering if any aunts or uncles had any advice about poly growing. Bit concerned that slugs might eat baby plants.
And aubergines, quite like to transplant them into the poly too. All thoughts gratefully received
