Hi all
Put my name down for an lottie with Wigan council in July 2007, phoned them in Aug 2008 to see how my progress on the list was doing and was told that I was 25th on the list, which I thought was good, until the lady told me that 24th on the list has been waiting for 4 years
Anyhow earlier this year I decided to try to grow some veggies in my postage stamp sized garden, so in 1 raised bed I managed to grow potatoes, carrots, brocolli, peas and corgettes, cauliflowers never really got started.
I now have the bug big time and have now pinched part of my parents garden ( which is quite big ) and have recently built 4 raised beds 8ft x 4ft
.
In my first year of having more room should I go for the slow approach or should I go for it, also what would be the best way to utilise the beds, I was thinking to keep one for potatoes, and maybe grow everything else in the other 3 plus a few containers. I do not have a greenhouse so everything will be grown outdoors - is there anything that I shouldn't even bother to try and grow without the aid of a greenhouse ??
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Darren

I too have a tiny garden that I was trying to grow bits and bobs in, but then I was lucky enough to get a lottie. If I were you I'd make a right pest of myself - call and email the allotments officer weekly, go round all your local sites and notify your allotments officer of any that look abandoned - it worked for me
