                      Welcome! Your allotment looks awesome... also you might find you like homegrown beetroot which tastes entirely different to that terrible pickled stuff in plastic... quartered & roasted in olive oil with sea salt. Also the tops are divine fried or in bubble & squeak!

                              Welcome. First time allotmenteer for me last year. Beetroot (boltardy) was one of the best crops I grew. Up at the top along with french beans (ferrari and borlotti) and butternut squash(butterfly). All relatively easy to grow and delicious.

                                OK. Maybe I've been harsh on beetroot. But I've tried it so many different ways and it just taste horrible to me! I'm still happy to grow it for my nan even though I won't eat it. I enjoy growing tomatoes very much but I cant eat them...but as long as the plant is interesting or attractive that's fine. Other people are always there to eat it...
