I too discovered that I can use my bulb planter for lots of things. The only time I've used it for bulbs was last week when I was planting hyacinths into the ground from the bowls and baskets they had flowered in. That gadget looks quite difficult to use.

Hi Florence it really is very simple to use. Push into soil, open up, drop spud/bulb in hole, pull out planter, job done!

my next door neighbour gave me his shovel handle that broke, so now I have a 2ft dibber with a handle for extra pushing down soil power....

I've always used my bulb planter because a) it saves me digging lots and b) I already have it

I just use a trowel too but the chap on the plot next to mine use's a bulb planter, it looks very efficient.

I don't have the energy I used to have TD, so it looks a bit on the strenuous side for me - a bit like the compost aerator I bought a couple of years ago that I have used but once! I tend to rely on my youngest son for the physical stuff

Och if it helps people with dickie backs well and good. What concerned me a bit was he was planting his spuds 8" apart. I plant my earlies a minimum of a foot apart and my lates 15"
