Pull out taps - do they go in again OK?

In the process of planning a new kitchen and getting sorted with the various appliances etc that I want. Today's confusion is over kitchen sink taps, the choice and cost range is amazing. Quite like the idea of one of those pull out taps where you can pull a shower hose like thing out of the tap and use it to wash things more flexibly if you see what I mean. Only concern is do they always go back again OK, the internet is surprisingly sparse on reviews / comments so wondered if anybody has one and could comment before I buy. Thanks

I had a new kitchen a year ago and I spent time in the shops looking for taps before deciding on what I wanted. I tried the pull out ones out and I didn't like them. I'm not sure if it's the wear and tear that they get in the shop but they didn't go back smoothly. I woulda guessed a tap would get more wear and tear in my kitchen anyway, so it put me off them. I love the idea of them though.

We have a pull out one and I love love love it!

It's been fitted for 2 years and not had any probs with it. I think I accidentally unscrewed the end of it when cleaning once but it just screwed straight back in again.

It's a b&q own brand one and cost about �130 (from memory).

We have 2 double stainless sinks and it sits in the middle. It's great for washing veg and when you clean the sink drainer it reaches over to swish it off.

We spent a long time choosing one as the price varies a lot and I had great fun in the shops pulling them all out and in again to see how smooth the action was! (yes I know I need to get out more, but I spend a lot of time in the kitchen so it had to be right!)

(My hairdresser comes to the house and she says it's like being in the salon for washing our hair in the sink!)

We had one years ago in an MFI kitchen. It was great but I remember that the brush bristles needed replacing and couldn't get them as they were discontinued. So - great in theory but make sure that replacement heads are available

How are they held in place? I'd envisaged either a magnet or maybe a turn to hold it but the specs aren't clear on the internet and I've not had chance to look as yet in the shops.

Pull out mono block mixers can be very good but I would recommend commercial taps for that purpose. I would suggest you look at Screwfix they are the trade arm of B&Q therefore the same article will be considerably cheaper. They also have a fairly large range.

The best taps in my opinion are Pegler or Franke yes they are more expensive but well worth the extra.

Ha! PTD, you are rapidly turning into our "Go TO" consultant for all things "kitchen appliance"!
I've fancied one of those hose taps for my new kitchen, but as with pop-out knobs on ones cooker, is it just one more thing to go wrong?
As long as my taps have simple "lever" type handles that I can knock on with the back of my hand if they are covered in cake batter or raw chicken, then I'll be happy!
It's mind boggling having to choose all these things, isn't it? I'm terrified of buying something and regretting it bitterly down the line!

We did end up getting one and very good it is too, can't remember what make it is now but it was a decent high quality one even though the fitter moaned about it - he moaned about everything so I stopped listening after a while

Its not moaning its called 'ticking' and unless he's ticking like a time bomb he ain't happy.
