Copper Garden Trowel and Fork

does anyone else have the beautiful copper trowel and fork from a company called implementations? i absolutely love mine as they cut through soil so easily - good for someone with RSI in wrists. i gave one to a friend who can't live without hers now! anyone know why they don't offer a full sized fork, only a spade?

Yes I have these and love them - spoke to the makers about a garden fork but their product designer is concerned that the tines won't be strong enough. but they are working on it. My own steel fork has just broken so I have to replace it.

I have the trowel and today bought the hoe and nunki weeder. They are effortless to use and so light in comparison to other makes. The quality of the bronze heads is beyond anything you can find in the shops. I am smitten as they do their job and more besides!

I must admit they do look nice, it's a shame that they're made overseas - I was thinking of buying bulldog tools for the very reason they're made here. But they are tempting!

They are made of bronze and are tough as old boots. When I told my other half about copper tools he scoffed (he has a metallurgy degree) "can't be copper - it's a soft metal". Now he's a convert and HE BOUGHT the hoe and weeder, so impressed was he by the trowel. I don't understand how bronze is copper but the website might tell you or I could ask my other half!

I tried one whilst we were buying the other stuff. It's a substantial piece of kit with square tines and they are not tiny. The handles are also right for us as we are tall people and these alleviate any over bending of the back. I am asking for one for my birthday present although they recommend the Sirius hoe for digging over which they use in Europe for digging over soil in preparation to sowing. Not sure I could wield an elongated axe handle although it was very light.

CM if you get to the Shire you can try my trowel out! It's an ideal thing to ask for as a present especially with a new CM on the way. We bought Bulldog in the past for the same reason although quality not as good as previous years. I had a new Sheffield Burgon and Ball spade which the rivet popped out of and sliced my thumb to bits. OH not happy with quality of tools these days but really rates these PKS Bronze ones. I think we'll just keep adding as and when we have spare cash. We buy British on most other stuff.

Another thing I forgot to add is that because they are high in copper their properties for leaving trace elements so deterring slugs/snails is said to be another bonus point. I'll let you know how that works for me as we have lots to contend with. So long as they are the last tool to touch your soil/planting hole that is. I found Bob Flowerdew uses them - google.

Shame I'm not near London, as I'm sure they'd probably have a present at the Chelsea Flower Show. I doubt I live close to a stockist mind. Goes to check.

My only concern is, taking the tools with me to the plot. I do it now and it's a bit of a pain - was planning on buying some cheap/second hand ones to leave there incase they're stolen... as I've cut my growing at home down to probably around 20% now.

Yep saw that on your profile page or thread you posted on. We have a selection of old cr@p that we leave up the lottie because our parish council doesn't allow sheds - silly to$$ers! Anyhow we drive so tools go in car regardless and then I bring them back. Not really a big issue for us but I think you cycle to yours don't you or are hoping to. That little trowel is light and tiny though. Don't think you'll regret getting one! For your birthday maybe....
