        DT BROWNS

        Gardeners' Catalogue

I have bought last year and this, awaiting delivery, can recommend highly.

I've had plug plants from T&M before, which were very good. Also, if you have a B&Q close by, they are getting more varieties of veg in every year & are usually good healthy plants (to begin with) and when they start killing them off (through erratic watering), you get them cheap I had Waverex Peas last year which did really well.

If I buy plug plants at all, I find local markets to be unbeatable for value.

My sister has got plants from Delfland. Not mail order though as she lives close enough to go there and but direct from the nursery. Prices are good.

Apparently QVC are having a plug plant veg and fruit special on 16th April at either 6 or 7pm. Freeview 16 - don't know where it is on Sky etc.

I haven't bought plugs from them before but have had some good fruit trees that are all bursting into leaf.

I don't know what the prices will be like but going by the buzy lizzie prices it will be 400 plants for threepence three farthing (and a 4.99 delivery charge)

I bought plugs for winter brassicas from Suttons last year which were pretty decent (would be harvesting right now if I could get to plot - whole other problem!), and OH also bought some french beans, cabbages, cauliflowers and brocolli from B&Q which did well (meant we got crops despite a seriously bad spring, low seed success and very little ground cleared!!).

Thanks for that - it's difficult to tell what the end result is after the hard sell, so I will watch and not buy next week (might have to give my cc to the OH for the duration though - just to be sure)
