    Well done lumpy.
you've got to do what makes you happy . Luckily for old, young, middle aged unwanted doggies, they make lumpy happy.

Oh what lovely doggets! They look like they can't quite believe this loveliness isn't going to disappear again... but you'll soon fix that. What lucky doggies.

You will always be a Grape.

go on Cad................go to a rescue and find yourself a furry antidepressant.
Someone to talk to when you can't get any sense from anywhere else. Something to pet when nobody else will give you the time of day. Something that does not judge on anything.

Go on Cad you may be surprised.

Lumpy - My Triffid wants a chocolate box dog that wants to be held or cuddle in all the time. I'm not ready yet and if I did then I wouldn't want anything smaller than my old Westie I'm used to medium sized dogs

We have had everything from mutts to Greyhounds. From Labs to Bassets.
If you want a bone idle but loves a cuddle Greyhound is the way. A 20 min walk is all they need.
Our 2 girls are very small Staffies, probably the smallest dogs we have ever had.
The pain of being with your best friend, confidant, excercise partner and daily smiles and laughs when they die is terrible.
However, the way I see it is all of the dogs I’ve loved and lost would really approve if we had another one or two out of rescue.
I found out today that Mags won’t eat raspberries but Plop loved the two she picked herself. That made me laugh which is rare in our situation as you know.

My parents once had a Cairn terrier. Bit rougher coat than a Westie, fairly similar but smaller. Lovely dog. Never easy to square pets in families. I'm a cat person and didn't want a dog at all. But Mr Snoop did and now we have three whoppers. Can't imagine being without them now. Bet your wife would love one, whatever the size, Cadalot. Character is all, and Westies and Cairns have plenty. Might a Cairn terrier fit both your bills?

Cads, my first rescue was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and I've had 8 or 9 since. Lovely temperament, happy to have long walks or snuggle up on the settee. Never met a bad tempered one. They're quite sporty too!
Mrs Cads would love one and there are lots of Rescues - as they're treated as Factories - churning out pups by the score.

I have only ever had one puppy and that was my beautiful Podders.
In the last 30 years they have all been rescues and of various shapes and sizes.
It’s my fault as I, many moons ago decided that Podders needed a friend.
There have always been a few that have caused more distress when they have been PTS. Podders, Maggie the collie who had a bad case of mange and lived under the stairs for months, Wilf the Greyhound, so badly treated with so many broken, badly set bones and Archie, the tiny Lab with his John Wayne walking gait.

I would never have a pup again as so many of the 6+ are dumped in favour of a fluffy pup that needs toilet training, socialisation and teaching.

If I could I would have many more than I share my home with now. I just do what I can trying to keep the trauma of ‘that’ last vet visit at bay.

Come on Jay. You know you need a dog or two to fill the emptiness. I've always filled the gap immediately which helps me move on.
